Koh Lipe, Thailand

Koh Lipe is a relatively undiscovered paradise, situated in the Andaman sea, 60 km from the Thai mainland and only 30 km from Langkawi, Malaysia.

It is one of more than fifty islands that make up the Adang archipelago and is the most southern island in Thailand. The island is covered in lush flora, has lovely quiet sandy beaches, and is encircled by tranquil, crystal-clear turquoise water, making it the ideal location for diving and snorkeling.

To make sure you get the most out of it, here are the top 10 things to do in Koh Lipe, Thailand.

10. Art Beach Club

One of the things to do in Koh Lipe is to take a dip in a pool rather than the ocean if you’re sick of having salt in your hair and sand between your toes. A great pool with a sea view is available at Art Beach Club.

Many people believe that Koh Lipe’s atmosphere is being damaged by this resort because it has a different mood from the rest of the island. The pool, though, is amazing.

Art Beach Club is located just southeast of Walking Street, and you’ll hear it before you see it. Drinks start from 220 baht which is equivalent to $6.60, the most expensive on the island by far. And if you need a little break, reading a nice book all by yourself is the best way to simulate being on vacation.

Despite Koh Lipe’s plenty of activities, it’s wonderful to take a little time to unwind. You can locate a location to sit in a hammock or under a palm tree and read during the sweltering summer sun.

9. Maya Bar

Although Koh Lipe is not a large party island, there are certain spots to have a drink or two. Great beverages are available at Maya Bar at affordable prices, and the venue’s location makes for some amazing people-watching as you sip your cocktail. You can go there for a drink before dinner or go there after if you want to dance a little bit.

In the middle of the action, at the intersection of Walking Street, sits Maya Bar. Happy hour lasts from 5-8 pm, and to keep you occupied there’s usually terrific music and a fire dancer. Thai massages are a must-do while visiting Thailand.

After going to the happy bar, the unique combination of stretching, joint cracking, and deep-tissue prodding feels even better! There are massage parlors lining next to Maya Bar, but the most tranquil activity in Koh Lipe is getting a massage on the beach.

8. Koh Adang

Viewing Koh Lipe from above is one of the nicest things to do there. You can climb the mountain of Koh Adang, the island in front of Koh Lipe, to obtain a birds-eye perspective of the “Maldives of Thailand,” if you enjoy breathtaking views and want to get some exercise.

Koh Adang may be reached by boat in about 20 minutes. You can quickly locate the trail that ascends three vistas from the place of arrival. Three lookouts are passed along the hiking trail on Koh Adang, with the third offering the greatest view of Koh Lipe across the straight.

The ascent takes less than an hour and is not particularly difficult. The views from the viewpoints are breathtaking, and once you arrive, you will understand how Koh Lipe got its moniker.

7. Cast Away Resort

A yoga class at Castaway Beach Resort is one of the best things to do in Koh Lipe if you like to relax. Classes are small and begin at dawn.

To get your yoga fix, sign up in advance for morning and private sessions or just show up to the afternoon class. Since they are always held close to the shore, you may unwind in a lovely setting.

A sunrise meditation or a leisurely Hatha yoga class might help you start your day. Both are available right next to the beach. Each class lasts an hour and is held every day but Sunday. They are available three times a day at 7 a.m., 9 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. for 400 baht which is equivalent to $12 for an hour. Book classes in advance if you can because they tend to fill up quickly, especially during peak times.

6. OMG! Sports Bar

One of the unusual tourist activities in Koh Lipe is going to the theatres because the island is far too small to support a movie theater. Thankfully, OMG! is available if you like to watch movies on a screen larger than an iPad, then OMG! has your back.

What more could you want than cocktails, delectable food, and a big TV? Spend a fun-filled evening at OMG! Family, friends, and other patrons in a sports bar. Certainly, a video game or film will be played. You can head there every 7 pm for movie night, however, there are no promises as to the content of the film. In the end, it doesn’t really matter as long as you enjoy right? Just be sure to use insect repellent because mosquitoes may be vicious.

If the movie doesn’t interest you, you can play pool or darts instead, or you can just unwind and take in the ambiance. The meal is excellent. If you’re missing home or have a longing for a large, juicy burger, Western food is the greatest on the island. It might not be as wonderful as tasting traditional Thai food, though. OMG! is kind of hidden and not immediately seen on the beach; you have to look for it.

Sunrise Beach is to the west on Walking Street; make the first right. A short distance ahead on the left is the sports bar. You will be able to hear it once you are close by.

5. Koh Lipe Walking Street

The main settlement on the entire island is essentially centered on Koh Lipe Walking Street. This is the main street, where you can pretty much find anything you’d need in a busy Thai town, such as massage parlors, a ton of bars and restaurants, tour guides, and a ton of souvenir shops.

Because Walking Street is such a major thoroughfare in Koh Lipe, you won’t be able to avoid taking a stroll along it. Our best tip is to wander around the entire island. Koh Lipe is so tiny that you may quickly walk across it in all directions, it only takes about 45 minutes to walk the length of the island.

Although there are a few trucks and motorcycle taxis on the island, for the most part, it is fairly pedestrian-friendly. Prepared for a culinary adventure? On Walking Street, you can explore the vibrant eateries, cafes, pubs, and grills. Here, you can discover grilled fish that has just been caught, as well as meals from many different cultures. Many of them also cater to vegetarians and vegans

4. Sunset Beach

The west side of the island’s Sunset Beach is a little harbor with some rocks, a calm sea, and a few unassuming cafés and eateries. As the name implies, it’s the ideal place to watch the sunset. There is also a camping area, which lends it a slightly hippie vibe. You shouldn’t pass up the chance to take a boat tour that stops at several islands while you’re at Koh Lipe.

In addition to seeing wildlife, such as lizards and monkeys, you will also visit a few beautiful islands with intriguing rock formations and discover fantastic snorkeling and swimming locations. You might even find your own private beach if you’re fortunate enough.

In Thailand, it is still feasible. Programs A and B, which are two of the four island-hopping itineraries available from Koh Lipe, the others being the Sunset Trip and Plankton Trip, are by far the most well-liked.

You will be in awe of the beautiful islands, beaches, and marine life. Without having to deal with the trouble of organizing everything yourself, this Koh Lipe snorkeling tour takes you to the greatest areas.

3. Pattaya Beach

When you arrive, it will become clear why this is the primary tourist hub for planning activities on Koh Lipe. Flashpackers, hikers, and resort-goers all enjoy hanging out at this enormous stretch of incredibly white sand and emerald-colored sea.

Many travelers chose to stay here since there are so many bars, eateries, and housing alternatives. Although Pattaya may get extremely congested from November to April, there are many beaches nearby that see less traffic.

The majority of ferry services dock at Pattaya Beach, a wonderfully gorgeous wide sheltered bay with fine, white sand and good swimming “pools,” making it straightforward to reach the pubs and restaurants on Walking Street.

There are numerous lodging options in Koh Lipe. You’ll likely come here to make reservations for your excursions and activities if you’re seeking interesting, outdoor, and adventurous things to do in Koh Lipe.

2. Sunrise Beach

If you get up early enough, you can see the sunrise from Sunrise Beach, which runs down the Eastern side of the island. This island location is ideal for viewing the sunrise, as the name implies.

One of the nicest things to do in Koh Lipe, even if you’re not a morning person, is to go for a sunrise swim. Getting up early is worthwhile at least once. Choose a position on the beach, and then observe the wonder as the sun rises above the horizon.

If you’re staying on Sunrise Beach, you might as well just step outside or, if you’re lucky, watch from your balcony. Take a leisurely morning stroll down a pedestrian-friendly street if you’re staying someplace else before locating a place to stay to take in the spectacle.

There’s a pleasant breeze during the whole day and it’s a great spot for snorkeling and even water sports.

1. Koh Lipe Beach

It is difficult to visit the Thai islands without diving for a while. The same is true of Koh Lipe. This is why we decided to put Koh Lipe Beach as our number one spot.

Koh Lipe’s tranquil, blue waters conceal some of the most stunning sights to behold. The Taruato Marine Park includes the waters surrounding the island, and they are teeming with life. Even the most seasoned snorkeler will find the variety of fish and coral exciting, and the simplicity of snorkeling just off the beach makes it even better.

Anywhere on the island, you can snorkel right off the beach, but the greatest place is off Sunrise Beach’s southern end, in front of the Idyllic resort. Wear fins and go during high tide because the coral is shallow and there may be some current.

When the tide is low, go to the northern part of the beach, in front of Mountain Resort. If you lack the necessary gear, you can rent snorkeling gear from any of the beachside dive shops and spend the day exploring the underwater environment.

Fins, a mask, and a snorkel are commonly rented for 50 baht which is $1.50 each, or about 150 baht which is $4.50 for the entire set.
